Book-A-Trip
It’s bigger than ever! Read the book, come for the presentation, and join us on a bus trip. James Thompson, author of this year’s book selection, The Birth of Virginia’s Aristocracy, will be back on September 18 to lead a discussion about the book. The October 2 bus trip to Poplar Forest, Sandusky, and Point of Honor in Lynchburg rounds out the program. Sign-up for the bus trip at the discussion. Books are available at the library for $10.

Change for Children
Make a difference each time you collect a baby food jar full of change. Baby food jars are available at the front desk to take home, fill with change, empty into our big jar, and repeat as often as possible.  Each jar emptied gets one chance in a drawing for like-new books from the Friends of the Library.
Help Support WPL!
  • The coffee stand is closed for the summer but will return in the fall. Enjoy a cup of coffee. You’ll find the stand located across from the front desk, so pick up a newspaper, magazine, or good book and sit down to a hot cup of coffee. Each cup is 50 cents.
  • Donate used ink cartridges and cell phones to be recycled. The drop box is located beside the copier.
  • NEW! Buy a gift set comprised of our sophisticated WPL travel mugs; note cards made by local photographer, Deb Booth; a reusable canvas bag; and a bumper sticker, all for only $20. Each item can also be purchased separately.

Proceeds from these fundraisers benefit the renovations.

Don't Wait As Long For A Computer
WPL now has netbooks for students ages 8-17 to check out for use in the library. These may be checked out anytime during the summer except for one hour prior to closing. Please note that netbook users must have parental permission. See the netbook use policy for additional information.
