Q: Can I pay my bill online or by phone?
A: No. Unfortunately we are NOT set up for debit or credit cards. We only accept cash, check or money orders.
Q: Can my bill be adjusted for an inside leak (ex. Leaking Toilet)?
A: No. We can only adjust bills for underground or crawl space leaks. More information can be found on ‘Policies’ page.
Q: Can I have an extension on my bill if I know I won’t be able to pay on time?
A: Yes. You can avoid disconnection of your service when subject to a cut-off list by signing a payment agreement. If your account has already been listed (list is generated at 9:00 AM on due date posted on final bill) , you will be charged the $40.00 cut-off list penalty. Whether you have made the list or not, you will be subject to the 5% penalty for paying after the due date. More information on our Cut-Off Policy can be found on ‘Policies’ page.
Q. Do I have to pay sewer for water that doesn’t actually go in the sewer (i.e. watering, pools, sprinklers, etc)?
A: Yes. There is no way to meter how much water is going through the sewer. You will be charged the same amount of gallons for sewer as for water. Pool fills over 5 thousand gallons are the only exception. Please see the ‘Policies’ page for more information on Pool Fill Adjustments.
Q: How much can I expect to pay on my bill?
A: You will only pay for water that is used. Our bills are based on actual consumption. Everyone’s bill is different and depends on how many people are in the household and what kind of lifestyle each person leads. However, the average consumption for the city of Waynesboro is 5 thousand gallons per person within a two month period. To calculate an approximate bill, add the water and sewer rates and then multiply by 5. Then multiply by the number of people that will live in the household. Add that amount to your base charge and trash pickup charge (if you have it). (For water, sewer and trash your base bill will be $50.90, no trash will be $21.90) For example, one person with water/sewer and trash service could expect to pay {[($3.52+$5.32)*(5*1)]+$50.90} or $95.10 every two months based on average consumption.
Q: What happens if I’m late paying my bill?
A: If we have not received payment by the due date posted on your bill, you will pay a late fee of 5% the total amount of the bill. You will also be charged a final notice fee of $1.50. If payment is not received by 9:00AM on the due date posted on the final bill, you will be charged a $40.00 cut-off list fee and service will be disconnected. Amount due and fees must be paid before service is restored. If this full amount is not paid in 30 days, a 1% charge will be added each 30 day period.
