Scheduled collection will begin on Monday, December 2nd. Scheduled leaf collection is conducted by area (1 – 9), and concludes the week of January 1st. Trucks will be out in weeks prior, though, to collect in heavily leafed areas as needed. This unscheduled collection will be conducted as a non-scheduled service.
Residents can prepare in advance for the December scheduled collection by placing all leaves curbside ahead of the start date. Please note that it is a violation of City Code Sec. 30 – 106 (b) (1) to allow yard waste to discharge into the storm sewer system, or onto driveways, sidewalks, parking lots, the ground, or any other areas draining to the storm sewer system. We ask that you be thoughtful about the placement of your leaves so that they are out of and will not discharge into the street. We recommend placing a tarp to contain your leaves, and the collection crew will uncover the leaves, fold tarp and place it back in your yard. No bagged leaves will be collected by leaf crews due to our collection processes.
Should you have any questions please contact Public Works Operations at (540) 942-6743. You can also check our recorded hotline for area collection updates at (540) 932-8240.
