Request for Copy of Records

Citizens can request a copy of a record such as a crash report, dispatch event, police report etc. that has occurred within the city limits of Waynesboro by utilizing the 
Request for Record Form. This Form can be submitted by any of the following methods:

  1. You may download the form to your desktop, fill it out electronically, save it, and then e-mail it directly to police@ci.waynesboro.va.us. You must then mail the $5 fee to the Waynesboro Police Department before your records will be released.
  2. You may download the form to your desktop, fill it out electronically, and then print it. You must then mail the completed form by U.S. Mail or hand deliver it directly to the Waynesboro Police Department along with the $5 fee.
  3. You may print the form, fill it out using blue or black ink and then mail it by U.S. Mail or hand deliver it directly to the Waynesboro Police Department along with the $5 fee.
  4. The Request for Record form can also be picked up at the Police Department at any time if you do not have access to a computer.

The Department will respond to all requests for records within 5 business days after receipt.  A $5 fee is charged per record. Details and instructions are on the form. You must have a valid ID to receive some records pursuant to the Code of Virginia.
