Kayak Rental

The Paddle the Park program allows for the rental of both solo and tandem kayaks for use in Ridgeview Park. Kayaks are rented on 1/2 hour increments on a first come first served basis on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday afternoons throughout the pool season. Register and pay at riverside at the boat ramp near the River Shelter. 

Rentals



 Rates: $5 per person per 1/2 hour; $3 Youth (under 16) for Tandem rental
Exclusion Dates: July 13- no rentals due to Summer Extravaganza
Some important things to remember:
  • Kayaks will not be rented in inclement weather or when river conditions are not ideal or when pool has closed. Please call the pool to check on the program availability for a given day: 540-942-6767. 
  • Rental requires payment by credit card and a valid ID.
  • No individual under 16 years of age may rent a kayak without parental permission and supervision.
  • Renters are responsible for damaged, lost, or stolen equipment.
  • Renters may not take the kayaks beyond the established in-park boundaries.
  • Renters may not transport the kayak to another location.
  • Water shoes or strap on sandals are advisable. Flip Flops are not recommended. 
  • You will likely get wet. Be sure to protect your valuables or leave them in a secure location. Waynesboro Parks and Recreation is not responsible for lost or damage property. 
  • Small children are not permitted to be on a kayak alone. 
  • Renters must fill out all forms and waiver accurately and in their entirety. 
Trips

Saturdays starting at 10:00 am to 12:00 pm
(check catalog for trip availability- some trips may not run due to weather, water level, or special events) 
Pre-registration is required. Trips will generally open the Wednesday before the scheduled trip. 
$25 per person

Enjoy this 4-mile guided paddle down the South River. The trip will start at Ridgeview Park. You will ride the gentle currents past Rife Park, portage the Invista dams, and continue on past Constitution Park and Downtown. A feeling of wilderness takes over until you finish your trip at Basic Park. At the end of your journey you will be shuttled back to your starting point.

Our guide will help you navigate the river and portage your boat. You will spend about 2 hours on the water. 

The fee is $25 per person and includes kayak, paddle, pfd/life jacket, guide, and shuttle.

Trips are taken in solo kayaks (1 person) or tandem kayaks (2 persons). Small children  must be in a tandem with an adult. Please select the appropriate session, solo or tandem, for your paddling needs.  

Wear clothes you are comfortable getting wet and water shoes or a strap-on sandal. Flip Flops are not recommended. Unless you have a waterpoof case, it is advisable to leave your cell phone in your vehicle. 

When registering and paying for children or friends, you must add them as members under your account.
