Notice of Amended Parking Fines Ordinance

We want to educate and remind the community of the amendments made in February by the City of Waynesboro to the amounts for the fines for violating local parking ordinances. Beginning June 1, new parking fees will go into effect. The code sections 82-62; Parking in Prohibited places, 82-64; Improper Parking, 82-65; Parking outside of lines, 82-66; No current state license plate or inspection sticker, and 82-89; Overtime parking will be a $20.00 fine per offense.  Section 82-70; Parking of oversize vehicles will increase to a $50.00 fine per offense. Parking in a handicapped zone 82-62 (12) will remain a $100 fine per offense.

If you receive a parking citation, you have several payment options. First, you can pay in person at the Waynesboro Police Department. Alternatively, you can mail your check or money order in the self-addressed envelope provided. If the payment is not received or postmarked after seven days, an additional $25 fine will be applied, and it can result in a court summons.

Anyone wishing to contest a parking citation must complete a Parking Ordinance Violation appeal form provided by the Waynesboro Police Department or online at https://www.waynesboro.va.us/277/Services

Please remember it is unlawful for anyone other than a vehicle's owner or authorized driver to remove a parking citation from the vehicle without the owner's or authorized driver's permission.
